Our department designs and produces interior trim components using a variety of materials and designs. Throughout the process we combine craftmanship with technology to exacting standards. It is our attention to detail that produces world class interiors. That technology often involves complex computer programmes that are designed to make manufacture easier.

As an apprentice you will quickly learn the fundamentals of automotive design and manufacturing from a development and systems support perspective. The principal role is to construct robust technical assessment of early designs using cutting edge skills.

The development team you will be working with at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are responsible for translating 3D CAD Models into product for industrialisation into our manufacturing processes. They also are responsible for the continuous improvements of Interior Trim Centre material patterns for Quality and Cost improvements at Series. During Launch of new product, we are responsible to develop material patterns for Seats and Trim and release to Production into Series. Your final goal will be to become a productive member of these elite specialists.

You will need to be enthusiastic and well-disciplined as our apprenticeship is heavily focused on attitude and behaviour. In addition, you need to exhibit initiative, be reliable and conscientious. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to think logically and to work both independently and as part of a team.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the detailed analysis of 3D CAD activities of the Interior Trim Centre.
  • Designing SLS models for assessing release data
  • Working with highly experienced Specialists on existing and exciting new projects.
  • Working with planning and production teams to solve problems and bring solutions.
  • Being part of the wider BMW team working on exciting future Rolls-Royce products.
  • Developing into the department expert in Catia Modelling, SLS design & printing.
  • Being self-motivated to bring about change for the better.

Person requirements

  • GCSE maths and English at a level 4 or C Grade.
  • A minimum of 2 A levels at grade C or above both in a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering related subject or a BTEC Level 3 in a relevant engineering or technology discipline.
  • To be eligible for this position, you must be able to provide proof of your legal right to work in the UK.
